Water pre-treatment plants are usually foreseen for suspended solids removal (TSS).
The removal of coarse suspended solids by sedimentation is the first step of raw water pre-treatment. The separation is performed trough clarifiers/clariflocculators or trough lamella clarifiers, when only limited space is available.
Filtration consists in the removal of fine suspended solids trough mechanical action. This treatment can guarantee the removal of TSS with a dimension ≥ 25 µm. Idroconsulting can supply a wide variety of filtration unit as sand filters, multi-media filters, gravity and valveless filters and more.
The removal of ultrafine suspended solids by ultrafiltration membranes allows the separation of particle with dimension up to 0,005 µm. Suspended solids and solutes of high molecular weight are retained in the so-called retentate, while filtered water pass through the membrane in the permeate.
